We are pleased to announce a new product release: the Modbus Client Lite Q-SYS Plugin.
Similar to the Modbus Client plugin that allows Q-SYS to control and monitor any Modbus TCP compliant device, the Lite version allows up to 16 inputs and 16 outputs with a single connected device at a much lower price point.
The motivation behind the original Modbus Client plugin was to allow Q-SYS systems to interface with PLC and other automation controllers for complex rides and installations. These types of systems involve dozens of I/O and multiple end-point devices, and the Modbus Client was made to meet that need. The pricing strategy matches the value and demand that the product fulfills. But that same pricing strategy was a hinderance for smaller setups that only required a few I/O or a interfacing with a single end-point device.
While there are still some extra functions in the "Pro" version of the Modbus Client, the "Lite" version is still very capable to be a workhorse for systems that need the capability.
Both versions of the plugin have been released today as version 1.3.0. The new update clarifies the licensing information on a new "About" tab and also allows for a time-limited trial of the plugin when license information is not present.
